Self-Defense — Short Course
A 4-hour course including an introductory lecture in developing threat awareness, the survival mindset, managing contact panic, and the laws pertaining to self-defense. The hands-on segment deals with manipulating human nature, being grabbed, escapes, and how to shut down the attacker. This is NOT a martial art — it is an interactive system of action/reaction tailored to the law-abiding general public.
Self-Defense — Long Course
Scenario-based training that teaches you how to quickly review your options and take action — whether to avoid the confrontation altogether or to free yourself from any grabs or attack. Uses a variety of mental and physical applications to build comprehensive self-defense capability.
Basic Handgun Training
Hand gun safety, how to break down and reassemble your weapon, cleaning, understanding ammo, managing your grip, basic stance, sight alignment, and carry options.
Advanced Handgun (HG Level 2)
Introduces the proper drawing sequence and weapon presentation, natural point of aim, foot movement, and muzzling and cross fire drills. The laws of assault, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and the legal requirements for justified self-defense are thoroughly explored.
Tactical Baton
Proper tactical baton deployment, striking techniques, defensive blocks, retention methods, and legal considerations. Training emphasizes practical application under stress and scenario-based decision making for when to deploy and when to de-escalate.
Edged Weapon Defense
Understanding edged weapon attacks, defensive positioning, disarming techniques, and survival mindset when facing a blade. Instructor Montgomery's expertise in edged weapon mark identification — taught at the University of Tennessee — provides unique depth to this course.
Improvised Weapons
Using everyday objects as defensive tools. This course teaches awareness of your environment, identifying potential defensive aids, and techniques for using common items effectively when no purpose-built tool is available. Practical, creative, and potentially life-saving.
Law Enforcement Specialized
Advanced training designed specifically for active-duty law enforcement officers. Covers patrol procedures, threat assessment, use-of-force alternatives, SWAT-relevant tactics, and practical sessions addressing real questions from the field. Content is continuously updated based on current trends and challenges.
Denominational Safety Training
Violence intervention and protection training for houses of worship. Covers active shooter/threat emergency response, service team and safety team responsibilities, threat assessment, safe weapons handling under stress, in-house tactical response, physical controls, edged weapon awareness, containment, entry and room clearing, legal implications of using force, and medical training including triage, first aid, CPR, and AED use.
Communication & Teaching Skills
Dynamic presentation techniques, topic relativity and sequencing, voice inflection, eye contact, identifying and using common language, and managing filler words. Designed for instructors and leaders who need to communicate effectively under pressure.
